Darien Academy is not a survival school. It is a foundation for expeditioners, researchers, photographers and small-team leaders preparing for extended self-reliant work in the world's densest tropical rainforests.
Where infrastructure is absent and resources are limited, the individual is the system. Every course is built around that reality — sharpening the competencies, judgement and composure that long expeditions demand.

Darien Academy is led by Daniel Eggington, a British expedition leader, retained firefighter, Wilderness First Responder and jungle operator with experience across Central America, South America and Central Africa. His work combines expedition leadership, field risk management, tropical movement systems, medical readiness and real-world jungle experience.

Participants learn to move with control, manage energy, maintain route awareness, and operate safely in dense jungle terrain.
Participants learn to build and maintain disciplined camp systems that protect sleep, hygiene, equipment, recovery, and team function.
Participants learn to prevent avoidable health issues, recognise early signs of deterioration, and understand medical escalation in remote jungle settings.
Participants learn how communication, accountability, restraint, and decision-making affect team safety and performance in demanding environments.
Participants learn the routines and behaviours required to remain operational over time, including water, food, hygiene, recovery, kit discipline, and fatigue management.
